The past months have seen significant developments in the business integration of Canon and Océ, bringing us even closer to our goal of becoming the leading imaging company in the world.
On 31 December 2012, Canon reached a milestone by completing the change of ownership for all local Océ operations in Europe. This means every Océ sales office within Europe is now part of the Canon EMEA group. 80% of the Océ European business will be integrated into Canon by April 2013.
What does this mean for Canon in the world of print?
Canon aims to become the global leader in the print industry. We will capitalise on an excellent complementary fit for Canon and Océ in product mix, channel mix, R&D and business lines, enabling us to offer customers the broadest portfolio in the print industry. This has already been demonstrated through the joint development of products such as the Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS and the Océ VarioPrint DP Line, as well as our joint participation in events like drupa in 2012.
How has this affected the organisational structure of Canon?
Canon has now organised its offering for the professional and commercial print industry into the following groups:
The Professional Print Group, headed by David Preskett, covers cut-sheet toner-based production print including devices and solutions.
As of January 2013, Canon has established a Production Printing Group, headed by Patrick Chapuis. As Head of the Production Printing Group, Chapuis leads the areas of commercial print, wide format printing and business services for Canon Europe.
The Commercial Print Group, headed by Peter Wolff, includes continuous-feed high-speed inkjet technologies. The Wide Format Group, headed by Geert Rongen, includes the full range of flatbed, roll-fed inkjet and toner-based wide format printers. The Canon Business Solutions Group, headed by Joerg Gugel, now incorporates Océ Business Services and Canon Enterprise Services.
How does this affect customers?
Customers are able to buy both Canon and Océ products through the distribution channels of each organisation, with full sales and service support for the ever increasing demands of production printing. The focus of both Océ and Canon is on serving customers and on growing our customers business.
